Fun Things to Do in the Grand Canyon State

By Krystal • January 3, 2021

Arizona has plenty to see and do! These are some great options if you are only here for a few days or looking to add some additional activities before or after your rafting trip.

Grand Canyon – South Rim Area

The Grand Canyon is a pretty incredible place. Take in the views with a hike along the rim, attend a ranger program, or watch a cultural demonstration. The National Park Service website is a great resource to help plan your visit!

Bright Angel Bicycles, owned and operated by two former Grand Canyon river guides, offers bike rentals as well as guided bike tours at the South Rim. The tour guides at Bright Angel Bicycles have tons of information about the natural and human history of the area and this can be a great way to see more of the canyon and get away from the crowds.

Northern Arizona

Grand Canyon Adventures offers top-rated sightseeing and hiking tours to the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Sedona, and Horseshoe Bend. Grand Canyon Adventures also offers fully private tours that can be customized to create the trip of your dreams.

Page/ Lake Powell Area

Lake Powell Adventure Company offers a variety of guided day tours in and around Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. They’ll guide you through Antelope Canyon on a kayak, or around Page on an electric bike. They also offer luxury, off-road 4X4 tours to the beautiful Alstrom Point Overlook on Lake Powell.

Wilderness River Adventures offers half and full-day smooth water trips in Glen Canyon. You’ll float through the iconic Horseshoe Bend, and learn about the rich history of the region, and visit ancient petroglyphs.

Phoenix Area

REI Co-op Adventure Center Arizona offers a variety of options for a day out in the Phoenix area. There are tons of options from hiking and mountain biking, to rafting down a flatwater section of the lower Salt River. These guided trips offer stunning views of the Sonoran Desert and a chance to see wild horses.

Las Vegas Area

If you are near Las Vegas and would like to spend some time on the water, we recommend Black Canyon River Adventures. They offer a half day rafting trip on the Colorado River through a gorge below Hoover Dam. This area features rugged landscape and an opportunity to see wildlife!

We hope you fall in love with the Southwest!
